Yosotatu

Yosotatu comes from the rugged mountains of Oaxaca, a part of Mexico better known for mezcal but also home to some really exciting coffees. This is a community lot from Grupo Yosotatu, a group of small producers who came together around a shared focus on quality. Historically, much of the coffee in this remote part of Oaxaca was combined into larger lots and sold primarily for volume, so the work happening in Yosotatu represents a different approach—giving individual producers more opportunity to improve quality and earn more for their coffee.

What we like about Yosotatu is that it still feels distinctly Mexican: sweet, balanced and approachable, but with enough fruit and brightness to keep things interesting. It’s also a good reminder of how much is happening in Mexican specialty coffee right now, particularly in communities like Yosotatu where producers are putting more attention into quality and creating coffees that can stand on their own.
